Paleo Food List – What is Included in the List?

The idea of the Paleo diet is for humans to go back to the dietary lifestyle of our ancient fathers. This type of diet includes seafood, meat, nuts, and certain fruits which are seen as pre-agrarian foods that the cavemen were obviously able to obtain through foraging, hunting and gathering. Keep reading to find details of the Paleo food list.

Here’s the Paleo food list:

#1: Vegetables

Virtually all vegetables are approved for the Paleolithic diet, particularly turnips, carrots, parsnips and other root vegetables. However, the diet does not include vegetables that were not originally part of the ancient-day’s consumed vegetables such as potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, as well as beans.

#2: Meat

Paleo foods also include all meat, as well as eggs, fish, chicken, and internal organs, with the best being wild-caught fishes and grass-fed animals.

#3: Nuts

Nuts are also included in the Paleo diet, but in limited amounts. According to this diet’s advocates, early men gathered the nuts they ate and removed the shell prior to eating them. Of course, nuts only come seasonally.

#4: Fruits

Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and a host of other fruits are also in the Paleo food list. However, the fruits that Paleo adherents avoid are the modern types like peaches and apples. These are planted to contain more sugar compared to the original species.

So, What Foods are Excluded from the Paleo-Friendly Foods?

Foods that are not eaten in the Paleo diet included grain-based foods such as pasta or bread. The diet also bans peanuts, potatoes, sugar, dairy products and cashews.

There have been lots of controversies surrounding the Paleo diet when it comes to the exclusion of certain foods in the diet.

Well, before you resort to the Paleo diet or any other type of diet, make sure that you speak with your physician in order to get an expert’s advice.
